They Called!

The produce of my FAVORITE television show of all-time, House Hunters International called me this week and asked about appearing on an episode of their show!

I noticed I had a missed call, and the area code was 212. I remember from my days of living in New York that this was a Manhattan area code. I wasn't sure what it was about. One of O's gigs perhaps? And that's when I heard the message...A producer from House Hunters asking about our upcoming purchase in Italy and whether or not we'd be interested in appearing on the show.

My heart stopped. Then, I actually started jumping in our living room whilst simultaneously calling Tony, my mom, dad, brother, and two besties.

A minute after listening to the voicemail, I also received an email with more details about appearing. I immediately called the producer, and everything looked like it would fall into place when...she realized that this would be a summer/vacation home as opposed to moving our family permanently to Italy. They didn't want to feature someone buying a second home or vacation property. (Which, let me add is very odd since many House Hunters International are based on this exact premise)!

And, conversation over.

My little dream kind of died.

I spent the rest of the day sending all those people I had called prior text messages with the teary-eyed emoticon.

:-(

Maybe another day.

  1. Too bad! I was contacted by them, too, but didn't qualify because I have lived in Italy for 18 years already. Another friend almost made it on, but they couldn't find a realtor who spoke English!
Thanks for visiting my blog and becoming a follower!

  2. You really are better off not being involved with programmes such as these I think. We met some people who were and it was not a good experience, for them.

Thanks for visiting my blog and becoming a follower. I hope you might find a little inspiration there via our renovation.

  3. I am so excited to see your blog and hear all about your adventures with your house in Abruzzo. I am so jealous! Too bad about House Hunters-I love that show!

  4. Thank you for your comments! I too knew of a family in Costa Rica that was featured on House Hunters International, and it wasn't a bad experience per se, but it was extremely time consuming and intrusive on their lives...It is still my favorite show, so I can't help to mourn the opportunity a bit.

Paninigirl: thanks for your excitement, but don't be jealous! It's a really tiny home that looks like it needs a LOT of cosmetic work! :-) Honestly, I'm just so excited that if I can re-hab the bathroom, put a layer of fresh paint, and fill it with some regional pottery I will be thrilled! Hope I'll be able to maintain the blog with some fun/interesting stories! I love all of the other Italian/American or Italian/Brit blogs out there!
